Dr. John L. Easter, Executive Director of Assemblies of God World Missions

AGWM Executive Director

Dr. John L. Easter

Dr. John L. Easter, Executive Director of Assemblies of God World Missions, carries a vision to see the Gospel reach the unreached through a new generation of missionaries. With 2,700 global workers serving in 155 countries, his heart is to see more laborers called, equipped, and sent from local churches.

Having served 22 years in Africa as a missionary, he trained church planters and leaders to spread the Gospel across the continent. Dr. Easter is passionate about mobilizing the next generation and believes that prayer and discipleship are essential to raising future missionaries.

Alongside his wife Cheryl, he is devoted to his family and committed to seeing lives impacted both at home and around the world. He believes the local church plays a vital role in sending believers to proclaim the Good News to all nations.

Chi Alpha Campus Ministries logo

Chi Alpha Campus Ministries

Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a Spirit-empowered, diverse community of believers on university campuses, committed to declaring faith in Jesus Christ through both word and lifestyle. Their mission is to reconcile students to Christ and equip them through Spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship, and mission.

Through a five-fold approach, Chi Alpha focuses on building authentic relationships with Jesus by cultivating strong habits of prayer, passionate worship, meaningful fellowship, intentional discipleship, and a lifestyle of mission. These practices help students grow in their faith and live it out in everyday life.

At the heart of Chi Alpha are core values such as community, integrity, servant leadership, and excellence. Their vision is not only to reach students during their college years, but to equip them to influence the marketplace, the Church, and the world for Christ.

Jackie Welence

Jackie Welence serves as a missionary to the Deaf community in Colombia, sharing the Gospel with those who often have little to no access to the message of Jesus Christ. Through relational ministry, discipleship, and outreach, she is helping bring the hope of Christ to a largely unreached people group.

As Jackie continues to serve, she has come to deeply understand that the Church is not confined to a building, but is found wherever believers gather in unity to worship in Spirit and in Truth. What was once understood in her mind has now taken root in her heart.

Her mission is to see lives transformed as the Deaf community encounters the love of Christ and is welcomed into authentic, Spirit-filled fellowship.

Costa Rica logo

Costa Rica

David & Amy Cartwright

David and Amy Cartwright serve as missionaries in Costa Rica, where they have spent the past 10 years working among indigenous communities. While they continue this important ministry, their focus has expanded to developing future leaders through the Sarapiquí campus of Alcance Bible School.

This growing campus offers both undergraduate programs and the first locally based graduate program in Central America for the Assemblies of God. Students are equipped with theological and ministry leadership training, along with business and vocational education.

A key part of this vision is a “business as mission” model that helps sustain the school while training students in real-world skills. Through a retreat center, sports and event venues, agricultural initiatives, and trade-based workshops, students earn tuition while gaining experience and raising support to plant churches and send missionaries globally.

Names withheld for their safety

CVA sponsors a missionary family that serves faithfully to reach people connected to Iran, sharing the hope of the Gospel in a region where following Christ often comes with significant risk. Due to these dangers their names must remain undisclosed.

Through faithful witness, discipleship, and relational ministry, they are bringing the light of Christ to those who may have little or no opportunity to hear the Gospel. Their work requires wisdom, courage, and a deep reliance on God's guidance.

Please join us in praying for these missionaries — for protection, boldness, and open doors — and for those they are reaching, that hearts would be softened and lives transformed by the truth of Jesus Christ.

Scott & Marisa Smith

Scott and Marisa Smith have faithfully ministered in Spain for over 45 years, serving in a nation where a very small percentage of the population identifies as evangelical believers. Despite the challenges, they are now witnessing a renewed movement of God across the country.

Throughout their ministry, the Smiths have been deeply involved in church planting — personally pioneering multiple churches and helping facilitate the planting of dozens more across Spain. Their heart is to see new congregations established and strengthened, equipping local leaders to carry the Gospel forward.

Marisa has also played a key role in leadership development through her work with Bible education in Spain, helping prepare the next generation of pastors and ministry leaders. Together, they continue to serve on a national level, supporting churches and developing creative outreach through the arts.

Leroy & Tami Martinez

Leroy and Tami Martinez serve as missionaries in West Africa, a region rich in culture and diversity, yet facing significant spiritual and physical challenges. Through faithful service, Leroy and Tami are helping share the message of Jesus, strengthen local churches, and invest in the lives of individuals and communities. Their work includes building relationships, encouraging believers, and equipping leaders to carry the Gospel into unreached areas.

Serving in this environment requires perseverance, wisdom, and a deep reliance on God. Please join us in praying for their protection, strength, and continued effectiveness.

San Francisco City Impact logo

San Francisco City Impact

Roger & Maite Huang

San Francisco City Impact began over 40 years ago when Roger Huang responded to God's call to care for those in need in the Tenderloin. After witnessing a young boy being bullied and feeling prompted by God to act, Roger and his wife Maite began serving their community with something simple: passing out sandwiches.

Today, City Impact serves the community with dignity and compassion by providing hot meals, groceries, clothing, and essential care such as vision services. Each outreach reflects their commitment to meeting both physical and spiritual needs.

We are honored to support this ministry and encourage prayer for continued impact, provision, and lives changed through the love of Jesus Christ.

Go Yourself

CVA Baja Missions Trip

The CVA Baja Missions Trip is a hands-on outreach where teams travel to Baja, Mexico to serve families in need by building homes and sharing the love of Jesus. Over the course of just a few days, volunteers work together to construct simple, durable homes for families who often live in extreme poverty, many without proper shelter or basic living conditions. These builds typically happen in partnership with established mission organizations and local churches.

Beyond construction, the mission is centered on relationship: connecting with families, encouraging local believers, and sharing the Gospel through acts of love and service. Teams often pray with families, participate in ministry opportunities, and support the work of local churches that continue discipleship long after the trip ends. These efforts not only provide safe housing but also help break cycles of poverty and improve health and quality of life for families, especially children.

For those who go, the experience is life-changing. It provides a powerful opportunity to step out in faith, serve others, and be part of God's work beyond our local community, fulfilling the call to go and make disciples of all nations.
